Bon Jovi

Back in February, I took my husband to a Bon Jovi concert. I'm not a crazy-obsessed fan or anything but I figured it would be a good time and it definitely was. Lots of adolescent memories and the guy is a great entertainer.
Ever since then, I've been listening to quite a bit of Bon Jovi and even my son is starting to get into it - he's got a thing for guitars so it works (my husband is wondering if we need to balance it with some Mozart). I even became a fan on facebook. That's been a hilarious thing to follow. Within 5 minutes of him posting anything (and signing it with -jbj so assumedly he is actually writing it), he gets literally 500 comments. Not even Barack Obama gets that kind of action.
Today I was actually ALONE in my car. It was a sunny day. I was driving fast on the freeway. I had my sunroof open. My sunglasses were on. The music was loud because there was no little person in the backseat to say "Mommy! Too loud!" It was one of those moments in life where I just felt GOOD. I was reminded that I am an individual person who is capable of existing independently. I was also reminded that my car is really fun to drive. Bon Jovi is excellent sunny-day music.
Join the moment with me:
I'm driving northbound on I-5 just about to come into Seattle. The song is It's My Life. Right as I crest the hill and the city comes into view - glistening in the sun - the chorus comes on..."It's my life, it's now or never, I ain't gonna live forever..." Love. It. Of course, about 10 seconds later, I hit a major traffic jam. It was a great moment, though.
Other favorite sunny-day songs: Crush by Dave Matthews (that song might top my all-time-favorite list), Steve McQueen by Sheryl Crow, Long Way Around by Dixie Chicks, the entire Dosage album by Collective Soul.
What is your favorite sunny-day music?

  1. I agree with you on Long Way Around. Otherwise, I'd have to go with Bruce Springsteen.
