In the three layout photos shown: 1) Left is a Brio train station, left middle is train shed by Imaginarium, middle is a set of Plan Toys roads and bridge (love this stuff), right is the mine tunnel from Thomas, black bridge is Imaginarium, sort of middle center is Thomas water tower. 2) Top left is Thomas flour mill, middle is a mountain I believe is by Imaginarium, bottom middle is another Brio train station, upper right is Thomas signal lights and Thomas train wash, crossing is by Nuchi. 3) I think all the pieces are mentioned in the above two.
Hope that helps! I bought a bunch of pieces off of ebay and a website called Happy Hen Toys. I also found stuff on consignment. Look around and be creative and you can save yourself some money. The trains pictured are imaginarium. If you want to go for the safest trains, your best bet is going to be plan toys - they are basically "organic" toys - or as close as possible. For pictures, see this post from my other blog: http://aaaupdate.blogspot.com/2010/03/oh-no-i-lost-it.html
They are spendy, though. Probably the spendiest of them all. Imaginarium? My husband has decided he is concerned about lead-based paint, so if I want to buy used trains I need to confirm whatever we are buying hasn't been recalled. And since no one ever seems to know what kind of trains they have, I am trying to figure it out by "recognizing" the pictures. Slowly but surely I am getting used to it. I am finding other brands you didn't discuss here: Battat, KidKraft, Montgomery Schoolhouse? Heard of them?angelaloishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07202635613904152037noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4535502094009146020.post-55881224106087216132010-09-16T21:53:26.234-07:002010-09-16T21:53:26.234-07:00Yes, it's like there is some over-arching rule...Yes, it's like there is some over-arching rule of what size all tracks should be and they all work together.Daniellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15676485158487357907noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4535502094009146020.post-59089348740907734412010-09-16T21:39:56.089-07:002010-09-16T21:39:56.089-07:00And in fact, all of these brands interlock with th...And in fact, all of these brands interlock with the other brands?
